Audi has uncorked its ultimate high-performance sedan – the 445kW/750Nm S8 Plus which will be on-sale locally early next year.
That 445kW represents an increase of 63kW over the standard S8 and is part of the secret behind the Audi S8 Plus covering zero to 100km/h in the Supercar time of 3.8 seconds – staggering for a large four-door sedan.
Another contributor to the performance of the Audi S8 Plus is its light weight – made mostly from aluminium using the Audi Space Frame the body weighs just 231kgs – the lightest amongst similar vehicles.
Under the bonnet, the 4.0-litre TFSI biturbo V8 benefits from new inner geometry for the turbochargers which allows more boost, modified exhaust valves, sports exhaust and recalibrated engine management.
Drive is to all four wheels via Quattro (with a sport differential), and an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Underneath are unique 21-inch alloy wheels with 275/35 R21 tyres, adaptive air suspension and a specific suspension tune.
Stopping is handled by carbon-fibre reinforced ceramic brakes with anthracite-grey calipers.
On the styling front, the Audi S8 Plus runs a bootlid spoiler (which you can option in carbon-fibre), side air inlets and the aero front blade are from carbon-fibre, there’s a black rear diffuser with a carbon-fibre surround, darkened tail-lights, black trim highlights around the windows, and a black honeycomb version of the Audi singleframe grille.
Headlights use Matric LED technology with 25 LEDs per light and you can have your S8 Plus in the exclusive ‘Florett Silver paint, or any other of the S8 colours.
Inside is black leather with red highlight stitching, extensive use of Alcantara, aluminium pedals and brushed aluminium/piano black highlights.
