We want. We want it bad.
Czech carmaker Skoda has released sketches of its hotted-up Kodiaq RS, which they say will pack the most powerful diesel the brand’s ever used. And curiously, Skoda’s gotten to teasing the new Kodiaq RS with a set of very, very accurate and revealing spy shots which begs the question, why not just show us a photo?
Weird strategy aside, we certainly like what we see. There are enormous 20-inch alloys with a diamond-finish around the octagonal openings, there’ll be a gloss-black finish to the grille and other key exterior components, and it’ll debut the new RS badge which has ditched the chrome/green colour scheme of old in favour of a bright-red V, which reportedly stands for ‘Victory.’
The sketches further reveal red brake callipers (very red brake callipers), and a pair of shiny chrome tailpipe finishers. Of course we know the production car will be somewhat toned down compared to these sketches but still, the Skoda Kodiaq RS will be a head-turner on the school run.
It’s widely-speculated (but still unconfirmed) that the Kodiaq RS will draw its power from a 2.0TDI donk under the bonnet, which’ll supply it with a healthy 176kW of power, but a whopping 500Nm of twist. Replete with revisions to the steering and suspension, the Kodiaq RS has already managed to clinch the title of fastest 7-seater on the ‘Ring, with a jaw-dropping 9:29.84 lap time around the fabled Green Hell, with ‘Ring Queen’ Sabine Schmitz behind the wheel.
The Skoda Kodiaq RS is expected to get its full reveal at the upcoming Paris motorshow, which will open its doors to the public on October 2nd. Until then you’ll just have to wait, but we’ll bet our bottom dollar that Skoda Australia’s already been in touch with head office to secure it for our market.
