Skoda’s acclaimed Superb luxury large sedan has been joined by an all-new wagon model.
Volkswagen’s Czech Republic brand is earning the kudos of motoring journalists throughout the world and the new five-variant Superb wagon lineup looks impressive with prices starting from $40,990. The range-topper is a 4WD version powered by a V6 petrol engine which is stickered at $57,990.
The Superb is a full-size, luxuriously appointed vehicle. The wagon is large – 4.8 metres long - and provides a massive luggage area up to 1,865 litres capacity.
Its wide tailgate, low 600mm load height and an innovative extension for the luggage area floor (which covers the rear bumper) mean the Superb wagon is handily equipped for the demands of wagon buyers.
Included in the equipment list is the standard fitment of the Park Assist parallel parking system with front parking sensors.
Styling is well done – the Superb has a strong on-road presence and a European look which stands out in the wagon market. The front features the trademark Skoda grille and the rear is nicely executed.
The engine lineup comprises one diesel and two petrol variants. Superb’s range-topping V6 petrol delivers 191kW and drives through the fourth generation Haldex multi-clutch all-wheel-drive system providing a variable torque split.
The Superb sedan has been praised for its slick driving dynamics and the wagon rides on the same chassis with modifications to suit the extra weight included when it is fully loaded.
So if you’re looking for a wagon, put this one on your list – you’ll be surprised.
