Better driving dynamics and fuel-efficiency are assured for the all-new Ford Falcon as more details have been announced in the countdown to launch of the last-ever Falcon range.
Entry-level Falcon models pick-up a modified version of the current G6 model’s suspension while the EcoLPi model scores the current XR6 Eco LPi suspension package.
So that means a larger (32mm) front stabilizer bar, re-tuned springs and dampers all-round, adjusted front suspension to suit the new 16-inch Michelin low rolling-resistance tyres and, for the EcoLPi, a smaller (14mm) rear stabilizer bar.
Ford Falcon EcoBoost gains a modified version of the current G6E EcoBoost model’s suspension which sees re-tuned springs and dampers as wells as the 14mm rear stabilizer bar and geometry revisions to suit the Michelin rubber.
On the fuel consumption front, Ford says the six-cylinder Falcon improves by 9.0 per-cent to 9.0l/100kms while the XR6 automatic and G6E petrol versions are down by 4.0-per-cent to 9.5l/100kms.
Factors behind these improvements include fitment of the lightweight, fuel-efficient ZF six-speed automatic transmission, extensive use of high-strength lightweight steels in construction, the Michelin low rolling-resistance tyres and adoption of the aerodynamic pack from the Falcon Ecoboost for all models except the sporty XR8.
