The latest findings of Australia’s motoring clubs (NRMA, RACV, RAA, RACQ and RACT) have confirmed the Suzuki Alto as Australia’s cheapest new car for ownership and operating costs.

Continuing an unbroken run from its launch in 2009, the Suzuki Alto GL costs between $91 and $121 per week (figures vary according to State costs) over a five-year period. That figure includes purchase price (currently $12,490 driveaway), depreciation, petrol, maintenance and insurance (the weekly fuel bill calculated at just $24.79).

That’s impressive for a four-door car with the safety of six airbags and stability control as standard.

“Suzuki has always regarded outstanding value for money as a cornerstone of its philosophy,” enthused Suzuki Australia boss Tony Devers. “The results speak for themselves and we are extremely proud of this recognition by Australia’s leading independent motoring authorities.”
