We’ve said for some time that good things are happening for Ford and for proof, you have to look no further than next month’s Australian International Motor Show (Sydney) where the stunning all-new Ford EcoSport will be unveiled.
This cute compact SUV has received rave reviews overseas and will go on-sale nationally from Ford dealers next year.
Of course the headline act with the Ford EcoSport is under the bonnet – Ford’s world-acclaimed 1.0-litre, three-cylinder EcoBoost petrol engine which scooped the 2012 International Engine Of The Year Awards, collecting three trophies. Ford says we can expect the performance of a 1.6-litre with exhaust C02 emissions of only 140g/km.
Tall-riding and compact, the Ford EcoSport is an ideal urban SUV – robust and agile but maneuverable and light to drive.
“EcoSport will showcase some innovative smart technologies, as well as the 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine. As the EcoSport is based on the same platform as the Fiesta, our customers can expect excellent ride and handling characteristics,” revealed Ford Australia chief Bob Graziano. “If you look closely too, you’ll see the One Ford signature design cues that Eco Sport shares with our very own Ford Territory.”
When the EcoSport arrives next year it will join other Ford models with fuel-sipping, clean EcoBoost powerplants – Mondeo, Falcon and (from next month) Focus ST.
