A new Tesla retail-only store has now opened at the Chadstone Shopping Centre in Melbourne. This is the fourth retail location from the Californian EV maker to open in Australia.
Prior to this, they had maintained an open-air mezzanine kiosk-style presence at the Chadstone location but now have expanded to a proper walled retail presence where the Model X and Model S will be on display.
There, potential customers can place their order for the more affordable Tesla Model 3 sedan - due out at the end of 2017 - but can also customise their own Model S or X vehicle via the in-store Design Studio, allowing would-be buyers to pick out interior finishes and technical options in a more direct and hands-on manner.
Additionally, there will be a store-owned Model S that is available for test drives. Existing owners will also be able to enjoy Tesla Destination Charging as they have before via Superchargers located in designated bays nearby along with enjoying priority parking access near Myer.
Chadstone’s $660 million development will eventually host up to 600 luxury retailers and some of the world’s most iconic brands, and the Tesla brand rubbing shoulders there can only mean good things for it.
