Hyundai has revealed a second vehicle bearing its badge that’s headed to this year’s SEMA show in Las Vegas. This time Hyundai Motor America has teamed up with ARK Performance to create an appropriately ostentatious interpretation of the Korean car.
It’s based upon an Elantra, but with given quite an attitude, sporting widely flared fenders to match its wider footprint on the road, paired with forged racing wheels, a custom front end and rear fascia that’s definitely a departure from any Elantra we’ve seen.
“ARK Performance knows the Hyundai brand almost as well as our own,” said Kevin Bentley, developer of the ARK Elantra Concept. “We strive to leverage the superb product development of Hyundai engineers, building upon their expertise while offering something really special to enthusiasts. The ARK Road Racer Elantra Concept offers the specific model enhancements that our customers have come to expect from ARK.”
Besides the significant visual changes, the ARK Road Racer Elantra Concept has also been given some performance enhancements. No figures were provided but we can expect substantial power gains via the custom an ARK Xcargot XT26 turbocharger, new downpipes and new exhaust system.
Of course, this car is more of a showcase of ARK’s products as opposed to Hyundai showing off the Elantra. And their endeavours to make their additions to the SEMA-ready Elantra look as integrated as possible is worth commendation.
It’s the second Hyundai headed to the SEMA in Las Vegas (which stands for Specialty Equipment Market Association), a trade show aimed at the aftermarket automotive scene, following the customised Veloster by Gurnade Inc.
