ES 300h, ES 350 petrol and GS 300h are all slated for introduction by Lexus Australia within 12 months.
The two new hybrids will bring the total number of hybrid-power Lexus models sold in Australia to seven.
While the GS 300h won’t be here until the first quarter of next year, expect the ES 300h and ES 350 petrol in Lexus dealerships before the fat fella in red heads down your chimney – the first time in seven years right-hand-drive ES models have been produced for Australia.
Lexus says there are differences between the two versions of the 2.5-litre, four-cylinder petrol electric drivetrains – the ES 300h good for 151kW while direct injection for the GS 300h is part of the reason why it delivers 164kW.
In fact, arrival of the hybrid model will provide four engine choices for Lexus GS buyers – 2.5-litre V6 (GS 250), 3.5-litre V6 (GS 350) and the two hybrids (GS 300h and more powerful 450 h).
For the petrol ES 350 you can chalk-up 204kW from its 3.5-litre V6.
“The return of ES to Australia is a direct result of continued customer demand and we are pleased to have secured not one but two options for them while simultaneously expanding our innovative hybrid vehicle portfolio,” revealed Lexus Australia chief Sean Hanley.
