Not just the reserve of the flagship Sahara anymore.
Toyota has realised that its Land Cruiser 200, the largest passenger SUV that it currently sells, has been left lagging behind the competition somewhat due to the company’s choice to package all but the dearest Sahara variant with advanced driver assistance kit. As a result, they’ve now taken the goodies from the Sahara and distributed it liberally across the lower VX and GXL grades, offering greater technology and innovations to customers who might find a Sahara ‘a bit much.’

As part of the new upgrades, the GXL now gains things like parking sensors and the front and rear, and the instrument cluster now includes a 4.2-inch supervision display. The multi-info display incorporates the odometer, the trip meter, the fuel consumption rating, eco-driving indicator, distance-to-empty, and also the shift position. Useful stuff.
Step into the slightly posher VX and you get a whole host of kit. The Land Cruiser VX now gains critical advanced driver assistance kit like blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, a four-camera multi-terrain monitor, and electrochroamatic mirrors all round. This is of course in addition to things like the 9-inch infotainment screen, 360º camera function, LED headlights, and so on.
There are no mechanical changes to report, so the Toyota Land Cruisers GXL and VX continue to be offered with either a 4.6-litre V8 petrol engine with 227kW and 439Nm, as well as a brawnier diesel with 200kW and 650Nm. Power goes to all four wheels through a 6-speed automatic gearbox as standard. There are no price changes to report either, so the range continues to kick off at $78,190 for a GX turbo-diesel 5-seater, and top out at a Sahara at $120,330 turbo-diesel V8.
