The prestigious Geneva Motor Show is only a few weeks away and BMW has shown its hand early –announcing the global debuts of the astonishing M760Li xDrive and the special edition i8 Protonic Red.

BMW L7

The M760Li xDrive is for the extra-wealthy to get away fast – the 440Kw/800Nm TwinPower Turbo 6.6-litre V12 all-wheel-drive is capable of a top speed of 305km/h and can sprint from zero to 100km/h in just 3.9 seconds…and remember this is a full-size prestige limousine we’re talking about.

Normally the BMW M760Li has its top speed governed to ‘just’ 250km/h but the optional ‘M Driver’s Package’ (sure to be big seller in the UAE!) will bring you that awesome 305 figure.

Underneath you’ll find an ‘M’-enhaced suspension set-up including Active Roll Stabilization as well as unique 20-inch alloy wheels in matt Cerium Grey metallic.

And, as you’d expect, the BMW xDrive all-wheel-drive system is biased towards the rear.

Also standard on the M760Li is BMW’s Integral Active Steering which includes a complex and high-tech version of rear wheel steering.

Visual clues on the outside include an aero kit and extensive use of the colour galvanized Cerium Grey.

On the inside is the usual armada of BMW M goodies (instrument cluster, steering wheel, pedals, left foot rest) plus some gorgeous luxury touches such as Pearl Gloss Chrome for the multifunction button and Piano Finish Black highlights.

Plus there is the extensive connectivity and top-notch infotainment system we know from the rest of the BMW 7-series range – including ‘Gesture Control’.

And if all that is not enough, BMW M has a range of individualization options to meet the needs of even the fussiest buyer.

BMW calls its plug-in hybrid sports car the i8 a ‘trailblazer’ and is claiming worldwide sales leadership for premium electric vehicles.

BMW I8

To celebrate at Geneva, the German giant is throwing the covers from the i8 ‘Proton Red Edition’ model.

We must say the i8 looks extremely good in red and with extra kit and some individualized features, BMW says the limited edition model is the opening shot for a series of special edition i8s.

The BMW i8 is beyond a shadow of doubt the best plug-hybrid the team at www.carshworoom.com.au has driven.
