There was a ‘proviso’ attached to the two concept coupes unveiled in Detroit by Chevrolet – they’re intended as ‘thought-starters’ as the American giant seeks feedback from young buyers in the creation of its next-generation vehicles.
“Chevrolet has always stood for making the aspirational attainable for all generations,” explained GM President Mark Reuss. “These two concepts interpret that vision for a new generation. We’re seeking out our newest customers’ opinions, listening to their advice, and engaging them in new ways. “
Based on some discussions already the two Detroit concepts explore the styling and functionality demanded by those buyers.
The first one, Code 130R is a relatively simple, upright, four-door coupe. It’s somewhat ‘heritage’ in its looks with a aggressive front end, hallmark fender flares and a rear-wheel-drive chassis. Under the bonnet is a turbocharged high performance engine.
Tru 140S is called an ‘affordable exotic’ four-seat sporty coupe and is based on GM’s Cruze platform. The front-wheel-drive, four-seat hatchback coupe is intended as an attractive-yet-affordable sports car.
Both were designed at the GM North America Advanced Design studio in Los Angeles and after Detroit they will set-off on a tour of other American auto shows and lifestyle events. Chevrolet also plans to engage discussions on the car via social media.
