Tesla is due to launch their SUV, the Model X, in Australia later in the year but in the lead up to that has imported a pair of left-hand drive units to give would-be buyers here a sample of the EVs unique benefits. Hopefully they’ll convince more folks to fill out their order book before its official arrival.
All Model Xs will come as standard in a dual-motor configuration, with the ‘D’ suffix to denote that. It will range from the entry-level 60D variant starting at $111,900, followed by the $125,000 75D, the $143,000 90D and the top-spec and faster-accelerating P90D at $172,100.
The Model X will come standard as a five-seater but can be optioned to include the extra third row to bring the total passenger count to a maximum of six or seven, depending on which is selected.
The two units that were brought in to showcase the SUV are P90Ds and will be on display in Sydney this week. They come with the largest wheel option at 21-inches and the Luxury Package fitted which include dynamic headlights and the Bioweapon Defence Mode that uses an industrial HEPA filter to filter out pollutants and allergens from entering the cabin.
The Model X P90D, assuming Ludicrous Mode is selected, with its all-wheel traction and instant access to all 397kW and 967Nm of torque from the electric motors can accelerate it to 100km/h from standstill in 3.9 seconds while Tesla claims a maximum range of 467km (NEDC).
