Audi has rolled-out new engines and a fresh look inside and out for its hot-selling A1 range.
Biggest news is under the bonnet with the updated A1 and A1 Sportback adopting new ground-breaking engines in the form of Audi’s first turbocharged three-cylinder powerplants – the 70kW 1.0TFSI petrol and the 66kW 1.4TDI diesel.
Of course minimized fuel consumption is the name of the game and in that department you can chalk-up a remarkable 3.4l/100kms for the diesel or 4.3l/100kms for the petrol.
But across the entire range, power is up and fuel consumption is down.
And the seven-speed S tronic transmission is now either optional or standard on all models.
Underneath, the Audi drive select dynamic handling system is available, the ‘Sport’ line model scores a slightly stiffer suspension tune and all models benefit from a recalibration of the electromechanical steering.
As part of the new look, 2.0cms has been added to the overall length – now 3.98m – and the roof arch of the Audi A1 or the roof dome of the A1 Sportback can be optioned in a contrasting colour.
Inside is some extra chrome and you can now order your A1 in either ‘Design’ or ‘Sport’ line or the ‘S line’ sport package.
Also on the options list are different wheel designs and even different colours for the air-vents.
Audi Australia will confirm local specifications and prices closer to launch.
