Mazda has launched updated versions of the top-selling Mazda2 compact hatchback.
Starting price remains $15,790 but Mazda has revised the lineup. Entry-level Neo has been replaced by the Neo Sport and the range-topper is now the Maxx Sport which replaces the previous Mazda2 Maxx (the +$20,000 Genki model has been scrapped).
The good news is extra equipment across both Neo Sport and Maxx Sport models makes the Mazda2 an even better buy.
For example, the Mazda2 Neo Sport gains 15-inch alloy wheels.
And much of the previous Genki model’s equipment transfers to the new Maxx Sport which receives more than $1200 worth of goodies – you can ‘tick’ front fog lights, climate-control air-conditioning, trip computer, leather-wrapped gear-lever (manual versions), red-stitched leather-wrapped steering wheel and red-stitching for the seats.
Impressively, despite the extras, the Mazda2 Maxx Sport drops in price by $760 compared to the previous Maxx models (manual and automatic).
There’s also a couple of new colours from the Mazda6 – Jet Black mice and Blue Reflex mica (no extra cost for mica or metallic paint with Mazda2).
The new lineup looks like this:
Neo Sport (manual) $15,790
Neo Sport (automatic) $17,440
Maxx Sport (manual) $16,930
Maxx Sport (automatic) $18,580
