Major improvements are included in the list of upgrades for Renault’s Phase III Trafic commercial van.
Heading the changes is a swap to a double bench passenger seat (replacing the previous single seat). Lifting the crew capacity to three will no doubt boost the appeal of Renault’s big mover with commercial operators.
Safety gets a boost too with a passenger airbag now offered.
Inside is a new dashboard and instrument cluster with enhanced illumination and read-out for the cruise control settings. An A4-size storage box has been added to the top of the dash – perfect for storing paperwork.
There’s also a new steering wheel with cruise control buttons and an enahced audio system with CD/MP3 and Bluetooth functionality.
On the options list is Tom Tom satellite navigation with a remote control unit which is housed is its own cubby. Electronic Stability Control (manual transmission only) is also an extra.
Powered by an 85kW/290Nm diesel engine, the Renault Trafic is available in both long and short wheelbase versions offering 6.0-cubic metres or 5/0-cubic metres of load space and a towing capacity up to 2,000kgs. Fuel consumption is a low as 8.0l/100kms.
In Europe, Renault is the number one supplier of light commercial vehicles and buyers in this segment are well advised to add the nicely-styled French vehicles to their shopping list
