Skoda, Volkswagen’s Czech-Republic brand, has revealed updated versions of the competent Superb sedan and wagon featuring new styling inside and out and improved fuel consumption for the petrol and diesel engines.
At the front, the updated Skoda Superb is actually completely changed all the way up to the A-pillars – new grille, lights, bonnet and front fenders. Skoda fans will pick the new-style Skoda badge which is shifted to the centre of the bonnet. There’s Bi-Xenon headlights, LED DRLS and, for the first time, DRL indicator lights.
The rear is also completely re-done – highlighted by the latest C-shaped rear lights with three light strips.
There are also two new designs for the 17-inch and 18-inch alloy wheels and two new paint colours.
Under the bonnet, Skoda’s 118kW petrol engine is down to 7.2l/100kms with brake energy recuperation as standard while the 125kW turbo-diesel drops to 5.5l/100kms. Both drive through DSG automatic transmissions – a six-speeder for the diesel or a seven-speeder for the petrol.
Range-topping Skoda Superb Elegance sedan models also pick-up Volkswagen’s Automatic Parking Assist system.
