Australian compact SUV buyers should take note of the all-new Mocca to be unveiled by General Motors European brands Vauxhall and Opel at the Geneva Motor Show in March. Opel enters the Australian market this year and naturally the Mocca (an all-new additional model) is not included in the current lineup, you can bet it’s on the ‘Wish List’ for local management.
Measuring 4.28-metres in length, Vauxhall says the Mocca is a genuine five-seater. It will rival vehicles like Nissan Dualis, Kia Sportage and Hyundai ix35.
Vauxhall will launch the new model with a choice of three engines – a naturally aspirated 1.6-litre petrol, a turbocharged 1.4-litre petrol or a 1.7-litre turbo-diesel. According to models, Vauxhall Mocca will offer front-wheel-drive or al-wheel-drive and transmissions will be six-speed manual or six-speed automatic.
Vauxhall Mocca includes some interesting new technology appropriate for the compact SUV segment – including a slide-out rear bicycle rack which is stored under the vehicle when not in use and twin cameras for the driver (providing vision in front and behind).
Load space is also impressive at 1,372-litres.
