The second annual Victorian RACV GreenZone Drive is underway and runs 29 August to 2 September.
Members of the public can use the program to enjoy a free test drive of 12 new low or zero emissions vehicles.
Of course the two zero emissions vehicles are obvious – Mitsubishi i-MiEV (now on-sale) and Nissan LEAF (soon on-sale).
Other hybrid or diesel powered vehicles come from Volvo, Renault, Honda and Audi.
To register for the test drive, you can visit the GreenZone Drive facility in the city at the Rialto 25-26 August or immediately on-line at www.greenzonedrive.com.au
According to the RACV’s Simon Mikedis, while petrol has been excluded fom the proposed carbon tax, the cost f running a vehicle and reducing their emissions was important to car owners.
“Of course with a zero emission car, they never need to visit a petrol station again. This is only the second time an event of this type has been staged in the world, again showing how Australians can take a leading role in emissions awareness,” he said.
