Volkswagen Australia has announced the arrival of some 400 special edition Polos which have been fettled by American audio company, Beats Electronics.
The changes largely focus on the cabin’s audio experience, as you might imagine, but also include exterior touches to reflect the red accented visuals of the Apple-owned online music and audio hardware company.
These include some contrasting decals, seen here against the Pure White exterior finish option, red coloured door mirrors, and ‘beats’ badging on the hatch’s B-pillar. Its tail lamps have also been darkened, a high-gloss black radiator grille fitted, and it wears a set of 16-inch Syenit alloy wheels. It exterior also available in Flash Red and Deep Black Pearl Effect.
Inside, the front comfort sports seats also have the Beats logo emblazoned and are trimmed with exclusive ‘shooting star’ cloth with grey Alcantara side bolsters. Additionally, there are further ‘beats’ badging upon the front tweeters which are integrated to the A-pillar, leatherette door trim, and front door sill plate with ‘beatsaudio’ badging.
Now, the centrepiece of this ensemble is the 300 watt premium sound system that’s integrated with the small Volkswagen’s Composition Media infotainment system. It’s comprised of two tweeters, two woofers, and a pair of full-range speakers augmented by a subwoofer housed in the spare wheel well that’s driven through an 8-channel amplifier.
The car itself is based upon a Polo 81TSI Comfortline. As the name suggests, it’s turbocharged 1.2-litre petrol engine delivers 81kW and 175Nm at its peak and is mated to either a six-speed manual or 7-speed DSG automatic.
All these extras will add $2,000 over the mid-range Polo Comfortline. Each car also comes with a set of red Beats Solo2 headphones.
