Volvo says its elegant ‘Concept Universe’ unveiled at the Shanghai Auto Show is a sneak preview of its next range-topping luxury sedan.
So that would be a replacement – and possibly a new direction – for the S80. And its future depends on reaction from potential customers who see and touch the ‘Concept Universe’.
“Our aim is to be the brand that best understands what buyers of modern luxury cars want. We are eager to hear what the most demanding Chinese customers think of this luxurious concept,” revealed Volvo Cars CEO, Stefan Jacoby. “Later we will show the design in Europe and the United States in order to bring it into the global context that we are aiming for with all our car models.”
According to Volvo the ‘Concept Universe’ represents a masterpiece of Scandinavian design for new luxury sedan buyers.
Certainly it delivers a look which is more edgy and purposeful than the conservative S80.
Inside are some clever Scandinavian touches like the tow-tone colour scheme of front and back seats and their innovative new shapes.
