Zenvo, for those not in the know, is a Danish hypercar builder that’s showing off its ‘new’ TSR-S model. Now at this juncture, some of you might be thinking, “this isn’t a new car” and you’d be right. What you see here is a mad Zenvo that’s loaded with even more carbon bits and was slated to be shown to the world at the now cancelled 2020 Geneva International Motor Show.
The recipe for the TSR-S hasn’t changed all that much. It still has a rear mid-mounted 5.8-litre V8 with twin centrifugal superchargers which produces 877kW of power. The flat plane crank mill will still rocket the Dane to 100km/h in just 2.8 seconds and toward an electronically limited top speed of 325km/h.
However, the company is debuting its latest drivetrain development which is a hybrid version of the company’s paddle-shift 7-speed sequential gearbox with helical-cut dog gears and two modes, namely: Road and Race. The latest development of this gearbox is “the addition of a hybrid module which yields a power boost, further traction control and even the addition of an eighth forward gear with the electric motor providing reverse drive” said the brand.
But what’s interesting about this particular car isn’t the crazy Centripedal active rear wing (check out the video below) or the massive engine, but rather it’s the additional carbon bits that’s added to the already all-carbon bodied TSR-S. All the carbon work done to the Zenvo not only feature class-leading tech but also unique little touches such as the bespoke ‘watermark’ carbon fibre graphics featured on previous TSR-S models. This technique has also been used on the exposed carbon fibre side pods, with the Zenvo logo emblazoned within the material in an opposing herringbone pattern. All exposed carbon bits can also be colour tinted to its owner’s fancy.
The wheels too are made from carbon. As any car enthusiast will tell you, lighter wheels mean less unsprung mass which means better performance. The Zenvo TSR-S now sports a set of carbon fibre wheels and joins a very small group of cars which receive carbon wheels from the factory. Each wheel is said to weigh around 15kg less than one made from aluminium. Enjoy the video.
The Danes also say that each wheel takes two skilled technicians roughly a week to create. They also goes on to say, “As with all carbon fibre work at Zenvo, from the body panels to the floor mats, these components are created in-house using a combination of cutting-edge technology and human craftsmanship with countless personalisation options.”
As you can imagine this level of technology and expertise does not come cheap. The Danes will only be producing five TSR-S’ annually with each costing €1.45m or $AU2.62m. Do check out the gallery below.
