Versatility if the key for the 2008 Canter lineup
Fuso is building an enviable reputation in Australia’s urban and long-distance trucking industry and changes to the Canter range for 2008 will boost that track record even further. Enhanced comfort, engine power and safety are just what truckies are looking for and the Canter has delivered.
Entry to the Canter team is the Canter 2.0 (no special truck licence required) and the range heads up to the extra long wheelbase 4.5FE. Along the way is a Canter model, competitively priced and suitable for every need.
City deliveries (especially for fashion/retail customers) are becoming increasingly difficult for truckies, so Canter’s reduced turning circle will be welcome news.
Good news also on the safety front with standard rear disc brakes on all models, anti-lock brakes and an optional drivers; airbag.
Cross-cab access has also been improved in the 2008 model with the gear lever moved to the dashboard. There is also a CD player audio system, air-conditioning and power windows.
Canter 2.0, 3.0, 3.5 and 4.0 models are powered by a 110kW/470Nm 4.9-litre four cylinder engine delivering 6.8 per cent more power and a massive 28.7 per cent more torque than the 2007 superseded models. Canter 4.5 gains a 130kw/530Nm engine – 26 per cent more power and 45 per cent more torque than its ’07 predecessor.
Canter 4.5 drives through a six-speed transmission while all others use a five-speed gearbox.
Fuso says the 2008 Canter offers more durability than the old model and is also friendlier to the environment.
Truckies have been singing the praises of the Fuso truck range for some years and – according to Fuso – body-builders will now be doing the same with the 2008 models very easy to fit all types of bodies/trays.
