Straight up – the Nissan Micra is a girl’s car. A hint and a half is the lack of driver leg room and if that didn’t drive the message home for the men brave enough to squeeze behind the wheel, the laughter from fellow male motorists at the traffic lights sure will. Yes, it’s that girly.
This retro bubble on wheels is cute as a button and ticks all the boxes for a female car buyer – lots of cup-holders and thoughtful storage, check. A fabulous range of bright, gelato colours, check. Great maneuverability and light steering, check!
The Micra is distinctively retro-looking – from the funky, chunky, highly positioned headlights, to its rounded, robust buttocks, this is a car for girls keen to make a fashion statement ala sass & bide style; but with that comes a downside, it’s kinky, and faddish looks are limited and certainly aren’t for everyone.
The Micra zips around the city like a dream. It’s fuel efficient at low-speeds, quiet in the cabin thanks to the small engine, easy to park and small enough to fit into the tightest car spaces.
On the highway, the Micra gives other small cars in its class a good run for the money with no rattles or bumps, it gives great suspension and a warm feeling of security within its weight. The brakes are comfortingly firm and responsive.
The boot is a good size and has a 60:40 split for more space if required and for the ladies, a few hidden storage spaces are a pleasant surprise, including a handy drawer you can pull out underneath the passenger seat. Neat.
