We have recently taken delivery of a 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe Elite, which is powered by a 2.2 litre diesel engine and as enough room for seven passengers.

We have always found the Hyundai Santa Fe to great car when we’ve previously had the chance to review them for a week. So it was with great excitement that we accepted a long term Santa Fe from Hyundai Australia to put a large SUV through the wringer of everyday family life.

The Santa Fe Elite arrived in to the CarShowroom.com.au garage just in time for school holidays, which means we have already had plenty of opportunities to put some decent kilometers under the hood.

Our first adventure was a quick run up to Bendigo for a day out with with 2 adults and 4 kids on board.  The extra passengers involved us engaging the third row seats, which is as simple as pulling on lever in the back of the seats.  Even with the third row seats in place there was still plenty of room for the picnic and play equipment in the boot.  With the third row folded the luggage capacity is 516 litres, second and third row folded increases that number to 1615 litres.

With child seats fitted in the second row getting the older kids in to the third row seats can be a little difficult. You can either remove the child seats and fold down the second row seats or do as we did and have the older children climb over the seats and hop in to the third row.

The R 2.2-litre CRDi turbo-diesel produces a 145kW and 436Nm when matched to the six-speed automatic transmission offers the best of both performance and economy. The claimed fuel consumption for the Hyundai Santa Fe diesel is 7.3L/100km we managed to use only 6.2l/100km on our mostly freeway trip.

Showing amazing faith in their own product Hyundai Australia offer Lifetime Capped Price Servicing and a10-year Roadside Assist program on the Santa Fe, hopefully this will be a benefit that we don’t need to call on during the next few months.

Check back over the coming months as we post updates about how the Hyundai Santa Fe performs as an everyday workhorse.
