Changes for Renault’s handy Kangoo light commercial van for 2103 are highlighted by a new entry-level short wheelbase petrol model (manual transmission) priced from $20,990 – that’s $1,000 less than the rival Volkswagen Caddy and Peugeot Partner.
And the Kangoo range has been boosted by the arrival of a long-wheelbase version called Kangoo Maxi priced from $24,990. With 384mm in extra length, the Renault Kangoo Maxi delivers 33 per-cent more cargo capacity at 4.0 cubic metres and 25 per-cent more carrying capacity at 800kgs (3.0 cubic metres and 650kgs for the equivalent short wheelbase model).
Hard-working commercial van operators will be pleased to learn the Renault Kangoo Maxi’s standard configuration provides twin sliding doors either side and twin barn doors at the rear (tailgate rear door an option).
Power is up too – Renault Kangoo Maxi employing a 82kW/240Nm turbo-diesel returning combined cycle fuel consumption of 5.5l/100kms.
And in keeping with the hard-working nature of LCVs, for 2013 the Renault Kangoo switches to unpainted bumpers front and rear, small plastic centre wheel caps (in place of wheel covers) and unpainted manual exterior mirrors (all keeping costs down and easier/cheaper to replace if damaged).
A couple of handy option packs bring appealing additions for commercial operators.
The $2,000 Pro Pack includes integrated satellite navigation, rear park assist and Australian Standards-compliant cargo barrier and cargo area plastic lining.
The $3,000 Premium Pack brings integrated satellite navigation, rear park assist, side airbags, body colour bumpers, front fog lights, height-adjustment for the drivers’ seat, electric door mirrors, a non-slip timber floor, 15-inch alloy wheels for petrol models and full wheel covers for the Maxi turbo-diesel.
