Audi look set to expand its A3 lineup with the showing in Geneva of a high-tech sedan concept.

The show car highlighted Audi technology – in high performance way. Power comes from a 2.5-litre, turbocharged, five-cylinder petrol engine delivering 300kW/500Nm and driving all four wheels via the Quattro system and seven-speed twin-clutch transmission.

Just 4.44-metres long, 1.84-metres wide and 1.39-metres high, The A3 concept is a compact sedan with a flat coupe-like C-pillar which still delivers handy interior space thanks to its 2.63-metre wheelbase. Boot capacity is an impressive 410-litres.

Carbon-fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP) is used to frame the front grille and air intake and a sturdy front splitter enhances the aero look. CFRP is also used for the high-mounted external mirrors and the flared fenders exaggerate the low, sports sedan look of the stunning Audi A3 concept.

At the rear, the A3 concept delivers deceiving width thanks to broad, flat tail-lights and a large air diffuser (also CFRP). Doors, bonnet and boot are all made of aluminium.

The A3 concept runs on the same chassis as the just-launch Audi RS 3 Sportback.

Inside are four individual seats, aircraft-inspired controls and air vents plus technological overload including a WLAN hotspot and seat-mounted holders for iPods.
