Slightly larger (99mm longer), revised interior and exterior styling, plus more performance and fuel-efficiency – these are the highlights of 2011 model year MINI range.
Priced from$31,500, the new lineup also comes with even more individual customization choices – a key differentiator between MINI and its rivals.
Under the bonnet there’s a new generation of diesel power – the 1.6-litre common-rail variable geometry turbo-diesel fitted to the MINI Cooper D is good for 82kW at 4,000rpm and peak torque of 270Nm from 1,750rpm. Fuel consumption in the alloy engine is down to 3.8l/100kms and responsiveness has been improved.
The 1.6-litre petrol engine has also scored some upgrades – the naturally-aspirated version fitted to MINI Cooper is up to 90kW and 135kW for the Cooper S. Selected MINI models are also available with a turbocharged version.
At the front, the new models are identified by a new bonnet, fog lights and front apron. Rear taillights are now LED with a Dynamic function (to warn following cars if the MINI is braking hard) and there are some rear-end styling changes .
Inside is a raft of changes with new trim, audios (now with standard Bluetooth and USB interface) and steering wheels.
