bought diesel ute ,2.5 litre based on their fuel consumption for
klms I travel each. they quoted 8.1 litres per 100 klms .
I travel 1300 klms per week to and from work , I pointed out
speedo is out 9.7% like every dog it has a tail answer it is within
specs ; could never get less than 8.4 litres per 100 klms.
changed wheel size from 16 inch to 17 inch speedo now out by
.09% I have now achieved better than avertized fuel comsumption but at what cost. I travel 82 klms through city per week at about 4am a week total cost $1250.00 for tyres $900.00 for gunine mitsubishi second hand rims ; I recommend
any buying a trition to insist on wheel diameter change to 17 inch or do not do the purchase.
On 17 inch tyres no problem with gear changes or perforance
only inproved economy but in city cannot use 5th gear till your speed is 80 klms per hour ; I have never had any trouble with
vechical inproved driving comfort and better performance.
would recomend

I bought the GLX-R Triton July 2012 for a work vehicle, Canopy of my choice, 3 racks, tow bar, tints throughout, mats etc. Can't complain about the Sales & Service from Col Crawford at Mitsuibishi at Narrabeen.
From day 1 the radio developed a vibration in speaking voices on any station Am/Fm. Rang dealership, they said no probs bring it in for the first service and we will analise it and make the call re fixing it. Did that and they agreed to replace the whole radio and had to reluctantay (I live 1 hour away from the dealership) book it in for another service to have it replaced.
That happened 3 weeks later. tested it with the dealership all seemed ok, driving home same vibration developed again. I've since complained again and they can't agree that they can hear it again, so that is where it is at the moment.
Fuel economy is a big issue though, I get 12lit/100kms normal driving and have on a trip got it down a bit by careful driving (around 9) by reducing the use of the accelerator a lot and as soon as you put your foot down it all changes dramatically. So yes it is quite hungry on fuel and then on a hot day if you use the climate control you see the economy go easily up to 15 or 18L/100kms.
The turbo Lag was a problem until they fixed that in the last service and now there is almost no lag, ( a fault they admitted was on a recall of certain vehicles).
Otherwise I am happy with the vehicle, it is relatively quite compared to Colorado, VW,
The 4WD system needs updating to buttons but works fine and very well.
I find it very comfortable and roomy in the cabin. I'm not sure if I will last for the 5 years of my lease but so far so good.
I must admit though I got a fleet owners discount that made the top of the range very affordable with all the bits for well under 50K and no other brand matches that.
The car is very tight and besides the radio & fuel economy which comes down to how you drive the car is good for me,

I have had my 2012 Triton for 10 weeks (however, I was promised I would have had it 11 weeks earlier). It is a GLX-R Luxury pack.
I was tossing up between getting the amarok, BT50 and the Triton. I must say that I REGRET getting the Triton. Even though they say you get a great warranty, the service doesn’t match. My 1500km service at toowong mitsubishi wasn’t a good experience and yesterday I put the car into MtGravatt Mitsubishi because my air con wasn’t working. I picked it up last night only to find that it died again today (all they did yesterday was put more gas into it, which should ring alarm bells on a 10 week old car). When I asked if they checked for leaks they said yes but obviously not well enough. I was told today that it will need to go back in next week but Mitsubishi MtGravatt will not give a courtesy car.
What you are not told when buying is, that all dealerships are privately owned and it is at their discretion how long they keep your car and if they give you a courtesy car even though you have a so called great warranty. I found this out when I rang Mitsubishi corperate in Adelaide.
The car chews diesel at a rate much higher than my friends BT50. I am lucky to get a combined 13lt/100km with a lot of highway driving by myself, zero cargo, and nursing the throttle. Mitsubishi’s stats are way, way, way off. With the smoke they blow every second start and the niggling problems I have had so far, I would recommend people to stay away from the Triton and go with another car. I am already looking for a replacement.

THIS IS THE ONLY THING THAT LETS THIS CAR DOWN THE WOEFULL TURBO LAG BORDERING ON DANGEROUS
ITS LIKE WAITING FOR AIR PRESSURE TO BUILD UP BEFORE IT KICKS IN' AND A VERY LAZY AUTO'
BLUETOOTH YOUR PHONE IS QUESTIONABLE ONLY IF YOU OWN A I-PHONE AND IT SOUNDS LIKE YOUR TALKING WITH MARBLES IN YA MOUTH.
BUT IT IS POWERFUL AND FAST (185KMH AND STILL CLIMBING) AND IM QUITE HAPPY SITTING IN IT ALL DAY ON LONG RUNS' FUEL I GET 11LTR/100KM ROUND TOWN AND HIGHWAY (DIESEL)
MITSUBITSHI HAD A REAL CHANCE TO SHINE WITH THIS CAR BUT THE TURBO LAG (IMHO) JUST LETS IT DOWN
WOULD I BUY ANOTHER ONE...NO THANX

good ute with huge tray. Only just enough room in the GL single cab model, would be nice if they could squeeze a little more storage space in there. seats are not great and its a stiff ride on long country roads but other than that its a great car and excellent value for money
