The cool ute just got cooler.
The Volkswagen Amarok Ultimate V6, the range-topper in the Amarok range, has just been given a unique option to set it apart from lesser variants. For $3990, lucky Ultimate V6 punters can have their Amarok’s finished in either matte blue, or matte grey.
The Amarok V6 makes up half of Amarok sales down under, and the willingness of buyers to pay over list price for a new one justifies the premium commanded for this matte paint option. So successful is the Amarok V6 that Volkswagen intends to widen the lineup from the existing Highline and Ultimate pair, to include a Canyon V6 in the future.
Volkswagen Amarok V6 utes are motivated exclusively by 3.0-litre turbocharged V6 diesel engines, offering 165kW & 550Nm. Power goes through a standard-fit 8-speed automatic transmission, before landing on all-four wheels. As expected, the Amarok V6 hits 100km/h from rest in a respectable 7.9-seconds, and should retain that figure even with the less-slippery paintwork. For reference, the Amarok V6 Ultimate retails for $67,990 (before ORCs).
